Uses of Abirapro 250mg Tablet
- Metastatic Castration-Resistant Prostate Cancer (mCRPC)
- Metastatic High-Risk Castration-Sensitive Prostate Cancer (mCSPC)
How does the Abirapro 250mg Tablet work?
It inhibits the CYP17A1 enzyme which is important in the production of androgens (testosterone) in the adrenal glands, testes and prostate tumour tissues. This blocks the enzyme and greatly reduces androgen levels. Since androgens are needed for prostate cancer cells to grow, reducing their levels helps slow the progression of metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC).
How to Use This Medication?
Take this medicine by mouth once a day, 2 hours before or 1 hour after a meal. Swallow the tablets whole without chewing or crushing to avoid further adverse effects.
The dose is based on your medical condition, laboratory results, response to treatment, and any other medicines you are taking. Make sure your doctor and pharmacist know about all the products you are using.
For maximum benefit, take this medicine daily at the same time each day. Do not stop taking your prostate cancer medication unless your doctor tells you to, as stopping treatment may allow the cancer to grow faster.
