Uses of Abiratas 250mg Tablet
- Metastatic Castration-Resistant Prostate Cancer (mCRPC)
- Metastatic High-Risk Castration-Sensitive Prostate Cancer (mCSPC)
How does the Abiratas 250mg Tablet work?
It inhibits the action of the CYP17A1 enzyme that is needed to produce androgens (testosterone) in the adrenal glands, testes, and prostate tumour tissues. Blocking this enzyme drastically lowers androgen levels, starving prostate cancer cells of the hormones they need to grow. It is especially effective in the treatment of metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC).
How to Use This Medication?
Take this medication by mouth on an empty stomach once daily, 2 hours before or 1 hour after a meal. Do not chew or crush the tablets. Swallow the tablets whole to help avoid additional adverse effects.
Your dose is based on your medical condition, laboratory tests, response to treatment, and any other medications you are taking. Make sure your doctor and pharmacist know about all the products you use.
Taking this medicine daily provides the maximum benefit. Take it at the same time each day to help you remember. Do not stop taking your prostate cancer medication unless instructed by your doctor, as stopping treatment may allow the cancer to progress more quickly.
