Uses of Abiratas 500mg Tablet

  • Metastatic Castration-Resistant Prostate Cancer (mCRPC)
  • Metastatic High-Risk Castration-Sensitive Prostate Cancer (mCSPC)

How does Abiratas 500mg Tablet work?

It inhibits the action of the CYP17A1 enzyme that is needed to make androgen (testosterone) in the adrenal glands, testes and prostate tumour tissues. Blocking this enzyme drastically lowers androgen levels, starving the prostate cancer cells of the hormones they need to grow. It is especially effective in the treatment of metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC).
