CA Atra 10mg Capsule

CA Atra 10mg Capsule consists of Tretinoin (All-Trans Retinoic Acid) as an active ingredient. It is used for the treatment of acute promyelocytic leukaemia (APL) (a type of acute myeloid leukaemia). Tretinoin works by encouraging immature blood cells to become healthy mature cells.

How does Ca-Atra 10mg Capsule work?

Tretinoin works on specific receptors on immature cancer cells and encourages them to differentiate and prevents them from multiplying. The fusion protein PML-RARα in APL blocks promyelocytes from differentiating. Tretinoin aids in overcoming this block, allowing the leukemic cells to progress into functional blood cells.

How to Use & Dosage

The usual dose recommended is two divided doses of about 45 mg/m² per day. The exact dose will depend on the patient’s weight, health and course of therapy, usually for 90 days or as directed by a physician.

Take this prescription with a glass of water. Use as directed on the label of the medicine. Take your prescribed medication regularly. Do not take it more often than prescribed. Do not stop taking unless directed by your health care team.

Talk to your care team about the use of this drug in children. Even if this drug is recommended for certain illnesses, precautions are needed.

Safety Advise

🫀 Liver

Liver function tests are mandatory as there is a possibility of liver damage with the treatment. Please consult your doctor.

🫘 Kidney

Renal function tests are necessary routinely although renal damage may occur during therapy. Please consult your healthcare provider.

🤰 Pregnancy

Retinoin is very teratogenic (may cause birth problems) and women of child bearing age should not become pregnant whilst on treatment and for a period of time after treatment. Please talk to your healthcare provider.

🤱 Breast feeding

It is dangerous to take a 10 mg CA Atra capsule while nursing as it may affect the unborn child. Please talk to your healthcare provider.

🍺 Alcohol

It is not known if it is safe to use a CA Atra 10mg Capsule with alcohol. Using CA Atra 10mg Capsule with alcohol may cause side effects.

Storage Instructions

Store at room temperature (15°–30°C, 59°–86°F). Store in a cool, dry place away from light and moisture.
