Product Description
Cefactiv 2.5gm Injection is an Antibiotic Injection and it is used for the treatment of serious bacterial infections of stomach, urinary system and lungs and it contains Ceftazidime, Avibactam. It is used to treat a variety of infections in adults and children, either alone or together with other antibiotics such as metronidazole.
Uses of Cefactiv 2.5gm Injection:
- Urinary tract infections
- Intra-abdominal infections
- Hospital-acquired bacterial pneumonia and ventilator-associated bacterial pneumonia.
How does Cefactiv 2.5gm Injection work?
Ceftazidime is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic that stops the formation of the bacterial cell wall and causes cell lysis and death. Avibactam is a non-beta-lactam beta-lactamase inhibitor that functions by shielding ceftazidime from degradation by certain enzymes produced by resistant bacteria. This enhances the effect of ceftazidime in combating infections caused by beta-lactamase producing organisms.
How to Use & Dosage
Given intravenously, usually over the period of 2 hours. Dose and duration depend on the type and severity of infection and patient factors such as renal function.
It is given into a vein or a muscle every 8 to 12 hours. The dose for children is based on their weight and medical condition. Ensure no particles or discolouration are present before use and consult your healthcare provider for proper preparation and storage. If using a pre-mixed solution which has been frozen, defrost at room temperature or in the fridge and shake well. For best effect, give the antibiotic at evenly spaced intervals.
