How does Tegoyes 15mg Capsule work?

The body breaks down tegafur into 5-FU, which inhibits thymidylate synthase, an enzyme necessary for DNA synthesis in cancer cells, resulting in cell death. By slowing down 5-FU’s quick breakdown, gimeracil prolongs the drug’s anticancer effects by exposing cancer cells to it. Oteracil minimizes adverse symptoms including severe diarrhea and mucositis by shielding normal tissues, particularly the gastrointestinal tract, from the harmful effects of 5-FU.
