Xylistin Forte Plus 3 MIU Injection contains colistimethate sodium which is an antibiotic used to treat serious bacterial infections, especially those caused by multidrug resistant Gram-negative bacteria.

Composition: Colistimethate sodium


Mechanism of Action:

Colistin binds to the lipopolysaccharide (LPS) layer and enhances the permeability of Gram-negative bacterial membranes. This causes the contents of the bacteria to leak out which causes bacterial death. It is quite successful against multidrug resistant (MDR) Gram-negative bacteria such as Acinetobacter baumannii, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and some Enterobacteriaceae .
