Product Description

Zemdri 500mg/10ml Injection contains Plazomicin, a next-generation aminoglycoside antibiotic. It’s approved for the treatment of complicated urinary tract infections (cUTIs), which may include kidney infections caused by susceptible bacteria.

Uses of Zemdri 500mg/10ml Injection:

  • Urinary Tract Infections

How does Zemdri 500mg/10ml Injection work?

Plazomicin acts by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis through binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit. The production of defective proteins in turn results in the death of bacterial cell. It is effective against multidrug resistant Gram-negative bacteria because it is designed to bypass many of the common aminoglycoside resistance mechanisms.

How to Use & Dosage

Zemdri is given intravenously. The recommended dose is the same as usual and is given over 30 minutes based on body weight (15 mg/kg once daily).

The drug is administered intravenously. Usually given by your care team in a hospital or clinic. It can also be administered at home.

You will be instructed on how to prepare and administer this medication if you receive it at home. Follow the instructions exactly. Take at the same time each day as directed on the prescription label. Continue to take it unless told otherwise by your healthcare team.

It is very important to always put used syringes and needles in a special container for sharps. Don’t let them go in the garbage can. If you don’t have a sharps container, call your chemist or care team for one.
