Product Description

Zomacton 4mg Injection contains somatropin, a recombinant human growth hormone (rHGH). It is mainly used for growth hormone deficiency in children and adults and other growth-related disorders.

Uses of Zomacton 4mg Injection:

  • Growth Hormone Deficiency in children and adults.
  • Short Stature due to Turner syndrome or chronic renal insufficiency in children.
  • Wasting Syndrome in HIV patients.
  • Prader-Willi Syndrome: To improve growth and body composition in children with this genetic disorder.

How does Zomacton 4mg Injection work?

It stimulates growth and controls metabolism by mimicking the action of natural human growth hormone (GH) derived from somatropin. It attaches to growth hormone (GH) receptors on target cells, particularly in the liver, to promote the production of Insulin-like Growth Factor 1 (IGF-1), a critical protein for the development of bone and muscle.

Somatropin lowers insulin sensitivity to increase protein synthesis, facilitate fat breakdown and control glucose metabolism. It helps in tissue regeneration and repair. It also helps in linear growth of the children’s bones. All together, these activities help children and adults grow, develop muscle, and have healthy metabolisms.

How to Use & Dosage

In paediatric patients, the dosage is based on the patient’s weight and medical condition. In adults, the dosage is based on the patient’s tolerance and clinical response. Administered subcutaneously, typically at bedtime, once daily.

Somatropin injections are administered subcutaneously for growth hormone replacement therapy or related diseases and come in prefilled pens or vials. Usually they are given once a day. The frequency may vary depending on the treatment, e.g. daily or every other day for HIV-associated wasting syndrome or daily for short bowel syndrome.

Your doctor may give you the first injection of somatropin or may teach you or a carer how to give the injection at home. Be sure you understand the directions and ask your healthcare provider any questions you have about where to give yourself injections, how to dispose of needles, or how to give yourself an injection.

Even If you feel well, you should keep injecting somatropin. Do not stop somatropin injection without talking to your doctor.
