How does Daptovan 350mg Injection work?

Daptomycin is a cyclic lipopeptide antibiotic that disrupts the cell membranes of Gram-positive bacteria. It adheres to the membrane of the bacterial cell and punches holes in the membrane, rapidly depolarizing the cell and killing the cell. This approach is effective against MRSA and other resistant gram-positive bacteria.

How to Use & Dosage

It is such a potent drug that it must be given intravenously, usually in a medical center, because it must be closely observed. The dose depends on the condition being treated, the age, weight and renal function of the patient.

Healthcare providers typically inject daptomycin once daily. If you are using it at home, follow carefully the directions provided by your provider. If you have any enquiries or concerns regarding the infusion, please contact them.

You will start to feel better in the first few days of treatment with daptomycin injection. If your symptoms worsen or do not go away, call your physician.

Continue to use the daptomycin injection even if you feel better until you have used up the prescription. If you miss doses or don’t finish the full course of daptomycin injections, the bacteria may become resistant to the antibiotic and your infection may not be fully treated.

🤱 Breastfeeding

Using Daptovan while nursing is most likely dangerous. Speak to your doctor.

Storage Instructions

Daptovan should be refrigerated (between 2°C and 8°C (36°F and 46°F). Do not freeze, as freezing may damage the formulation.
