Product Description
Kaviox 500mg Injection is an antibiotic injection which contains Avibactam, used to treat serious bacterial infections of the stomach, urinary system and lungs. It is used to treat a range of illnesses in both adults and children and can be used alone or in combination with other antibiotics such as Ceftazidime.
Uses of Kaviox 500mg Injection:
- Urinary tract infections
- Intra-abdominal infections
- Hospital-acquired bacterial pneumonia and ventilator-associated bacterial pneumonia.
How does Kaviox 500mg Injection work?
The non-β-lactam β-lactamase inhibitor avibactam protects certain β-lactam antibiotics from enzymatic degradation. It acts by reversibly binding to the serine residue in the active site of β-lactamases, in particular those that are class A (KPC carbapenemases), class C (AmpC enzymes), and some class D enzymes (OXA-48). Avibactam inhibits these enzymes, preventing the hydrolysis of these drugs, thus restoring and boosting the antibacterial activity of antibiotics such as ceftazidime against resistant Gram-negative bacteria.
How to Use & Dosage
Usually given intravenously over a period of 2 hours. Dosage and length of treatment depend on the type and severity of the infection and on patient factors such as renal function.
It is injected into a vein or muscle every 8 to 12 hours. The dose for children depends on their weight and medical condition. Check for particles or discoloration before use. Ask your healthcare provider how to properly prepare and store it. When using a frozen pre-mixed solution, thaw it at room temperature or in the refrigerator and give it a good shake. To get the most benefit, give the antibiotic at even intervals.
