How does the Poly B 500000 IU injection work?

Polymyxin B is a cationic polypeptide antibiotic that interacts with and disrupts the outer membrane of Gram-negative bacteria. This causes bacterial cell lysis and leakage of intracellular components and death eventually. Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Acinetobacter baumannii, and Enterobacteriaceae are the multidrug-resistant Gram-negative bacteria to which it is mainly targeted.


How to Use & Dosage

Depending on the clinical situation, the administration route could be intramuscular (IM) or intravenous (IV). adjusted for severity of infection and weight. Renal impairment; dose adjustment may be required.

This medication is given by injection into a muscle, spinal fluid, or vein by a medical practitioner. It may also be given in the eye. Sometimes it is used with a solution of water to treat the skin. Follow the directions on the prescription label and the directions of your doctor or health care professional. Do not take your medication more often than prescribed.

Discuss the use of this medication in children with your pediatrician. You might have to be extra careful.
