How does Viacease-B Injection work?

Polymyxin B is a cationic polypeptide antibiotic that binds to and disrupts the outer membrane of Gram-negative bacteria. This causes lysis of bacterial cells, leakage of intracellular components and eventually death. It is mainly directed against multidrug-resistant Gram-negative bacteria, such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Acinetobacter baumannii, and Enterobacteriaceae.


How to Use & Dosage

This drug is given by a health care professional as an injection into muscle, spinal fluid, or vein. It can also be administered in the eye. This medicine is sometimes used with an irrigation solution to treat the skin. Depending on the clinical scenario, adjusted for severity of infection and weight. Patients with renal impairment may require dose adjustments.

Follow the directions on the prescription label and your healthcare provider’s directions. Do not take your medication more often than prescribed. Discuss the use of this medication in children with the pediatrician. Extra care may be required.
