How does Doxific 100mg Injection work?
Doxycycline is an antibiotic of the tetracycline class that inhibits bacteria from making proteins. It binds to the bacterial 30S ribosomal subunit and inhibits the binding of aminoacyl-tRNA to the mRNA-ribosome complex. This effectively stops bacterial growth by preventing the addition of amino acids to the growing peptide chain (bacteriostatic action).
How to Use & Dosage
Doxycycline injection is a powder that is dissolved in a liquid (diluent) and given into a vein (intravenously). Usually it is administered over one to four hours, every twelve to twenty-four hours. You will be treated for a period of time depending on the type of illness you have and your response to medication.
You may take the drug at home or have an injection of doxycycline in hospital. If you are going to be given doxycycline injections at home, your health care professional will show you how to use the medication. Be sure you understand these instructions, and if you have any questions, be sure to ask your health care professional.
