How does Gerta 1gm Injection work?

Ertapenem binds to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs). This inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis, causing cell wall breakdown and bacterial death. Ertapenem has activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, including drug-resistant strains.


How to Use & Dosage?

Administered by intramuscular (IM) injection or intravenous (IV) infusion. Take 1 gram once daily.

Depending on the type of infection, ertapenem is administered as an intramuscular or intravenous injection once or twice daily. Once you are feeling better, your doctor will decide how long to treat you and may switch you to an oral antibiotic.

If you are going to use an ertapenem injection at home, your healthcare practitioner will tell you how to use it. Be sure you understand these instructions and ask your healthcare practitioner if you have any questions. Ask your doctor what to do if you have any problems giving the ertapenem injection.

With ertapenem injection treatment you should begin to feel better in the first few days. If your symptoms get worse or don’t go away, contact your doctor.
